What Is Micellar Water?
Well, it's definitely not mineral water. So what is it — and are you using it the right way?

How micellar water works
Micellar water is a special cleansing water containing surfactants. These surfactants join together to form micelles — tiny spheres that help pull dirt and oil from your skin. In layman's terms, a micelle looks a bit like a dandelion seed head: impurities get wrapped up inside it, and you sweep most of them away with a cotton pad.
The step people forget: follow with a toner
Here's the catch — some micelles stay behind on your skin after cleansing. That's why you should always follow micellar water with a toner. If you skip this step, the leftover surfactants sitting on your skin can end up irritating it instead of helping it.
Mini FAQ
Is micellar water enough to cleanse my face?
It removes most makeup, dirt, and oil, but always follow it with a toner so no surfactants stay behind on your skin.
Do I need to rinse micellar water off?
You don't rinse it in the classic sense — you wipe it off with a cotton pad and then finish with a toner.
