My Experience with Dermacol Make-up Cover
So many of you have asked for this one — here it finally is: my personal experience with Dermacol Make-up Cover, the legendary high-coverage foundation.
Why it covers so well
Make-up Cover contains an unusually high amount of pigment, and that's exactly why it covers the way it does. It hides pigmentation spots, redness, and scars, and it handles acne well too. On top of that, it's waterproof and comes with SPF 30.
How to apply it without the mask effect
If you want to wear it as your everyday foundation, two things matter: choosing the right shade and blending it properly into your skin. Skip that step and Make-up Cover can turn into an unflattering mask. To get a lighter, more workable consistency, I like to mix it with Dermacol Satin Make-up Base or a little coconut oil — a lighter daily foundation or your day cream works too.
Which shade should you pick?
I've tried quite a few shades of Make-up Cover myself, and one thing I love is the variety. The most popular shades in Europe are 212, 213, and 215. Here's my rough guide:
Really pale skin: 210 or 211
Slightly darker but still fair: 212
The all-round favorite many people wear: 213
Darker or tanned skin: 215, 218, or 221
To be honest, I don't think this foundation is ideal for very deep skin tones — if you have dark skin and have tried it, we'd genuinely love your feedback. And one more tip: even if your shade turns out a touch darker than your skin, it usually doesn't matter and still looks great once blended.
My verdict
Take your time with the application. I usually work with a brush and switch to fingers where needed. Apply just the right amount — too much and it can settle into pores and fine lines. For me, Make-up Cover fully lived up to its reputation: a perfectly even complexion is an instant confidence boost.
